Laos Sticky Rice

The Lao people of South East Asia are well known for their traditional Lao delicacies. These are kinds of dishes prepared by the lao with ingredients that are so nutritious that every good dietitian recommends laos food.

Some Lao food includes sticky rice, (Khao Neow), kai lao (Laotian Chicken, Sousi pa) (Fish with coconut cream) steamed fish with young ginger.

Khao neow: It is the everyday food of the Lao people. It is eaten with other food. Khao kneow means ’sticky rice’ in the English language. Some people also know it as sweet rice. If one intends to cook sticky rice the Laos way then that person requires the following: a Hurt (bamboo basket), a pot, six to seven cups of water and the sticky rice.

The method of preparing the sticky rice is very straight forward. The Khao neow will be soaked in hot water for about two hours and six hours if soaked in cold water. The rice, while in a colander, will be washed properly until it clears. Haven been drained, the rice is poured into the bamboo basket. Water will be put into the pot and allowed to boil.



Then the rice basket will be put into the pot. Allow the rice to boil until it becomes delicate. Shake it properly to make sure it has been boiled very well. The rice should be shaken with a spatula. It will be put in the bamboo. It is served hot and consumed with bare hands after making it in big or small ball and put in the preferred Lao delicacies.

Fried Chicken with Mushrooms

We will also discuss ’aioan chua noueung kretni’ (fried chickens with mushrooms) This can be eaten with the sticky rice. Here are the ingredients that you can gather to prepare one for the family.

Six dried Chinese mushrooms. One roasted chicken, four crushed cloves of garlic, one teaspoon of fresh ginger, two tablespoon of oil, two teaspoons of sugar, one cup of water, two tablespoons of fresh coriander and leaves.

Laotian Chicken

Here are the ingredients: One and a half kilogram of roasted chicken, two well chopped onions two hundred and fifty grams of mince meat, two tea spoons of ground dark pepper, one fresh red chilli, two uncooked rice and one table spoon of chopped fresh coriander leaves as well as a cup of thick coconut milk.
